Three Win Working Artist Awards

;

Three students were recognized for their excellence and hard work in the arts during a recent assembly. They are Katie Han ’19 for visual arts, Celeb Stern ’19 for theater, and James Arcoleo ’19 for technical theater and music.

Katie has exhibited hard work and dedication this trimester in AP Studio Art, according to her teacher, Wendy Staples. She has experimented with a variety of media, including painting, photography, photoshop, and film. For her AP concentration, she’s interpreted, synthesized, and appropriated existing advertisements in the media in order to portray beauty and fashion ideals, as in the example above.

Caleb Stern has poured himself into the performing arts program for the entirety of his six years here. Most recently he mounted a complex and thought-provoking production of True West for his Williston Scholars project on top of mastering difficult tap routines for CRAZY FOR YOU despite having zero tap experience.  In addition, Caleb serves as a role model for his fellow cast members who is always there if someone is having a hard day. “We are so proud of you! Thank you Caleb, for your dedication and artistry,” said theater teacher Emily Ditkovski.

James Arcoleo is being recognized for his dedication to tech theater and music. He spends two-thirds of the year helping build and run Williston’s theater and dance productions and the full year performing with the Caterwaulers. “Thank you, James, for your time and energy!” said his teacher Charles Raffetto, theater production and facilities manager.
