A Vibrant
Small Town

Williston's location in the eclectic arts town of Easthampton places it just a short walk from a host of appealing restaurants and bakeries, renovated mill buildings-turned-studios, bookstores, a rail-trail bicycle path, and more.

EASTHAMPTON AND THE PIONEER VALLEY

One of the great things about being a student (or a parent!) at Williston is our location. Not only is the school located in the vibrant town of Easthampton—literally a five-minute stroll away—but the whole surrounding area, known as the Pioneer Valley, is rich with arts, culture, restaurants, and museums, plus natural escapes, like rail trails, ski mountains, farm stands, and more. A 10-minute drive or bus ride takes you to the vibrant college town of Northampton, home to Smith College and dozens of additional restaurants and shops. Just a little further afield is the town of Amherst, home to Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts, as well as more great dining spots, theaters, bookstores, and cultural events. We’re also just 45 minutes from The Berkshires and Vermont, an hour and a half from Boston, and three hours from New York City. To find out more about what’s happening in the area, click here.

6 Things to Do In Easthampton

Take a Hike: Mount Tom gives you a great vantage point to look out over Easthampton and neighboring towns. This steeply-sided ridge gives campus its dramatic backdrop.

Explore your Hobbies: Whether it’s finding new additions to the wardrobe at a vintage shop or a streetwear boutique, hitting up a record store to find a new album for the collection, or visiting a book shop or comic book emporium, there are plenty of shops and stores for you to continue fueling your passions outside the classroom.

Play a Game: Eastworks and Mill 180, a 5-minute drive from campus, house restaurants, a table-tennis center, a room-escape game, and an indoor park (!).

Get the Scoop: Mt. Tom’s Homemade Ice Cream is more than an ice cream shop, it’s an institution. Choose a homemade scoop on a cone, or browse the rows of candy jars as if it were 1955.

Bite a Bagel: Bagels and coffee go together like, well, Williston and Tandem Bagel. Founded by two alumni and located in our old art studio (right across the street from the Schoolhouse), Tandem is the perfect spot for a mid-morning pick-me-up.

Dine Out: Easthampton is home to restaurants for many tastes: An intimate meal made from scratch at Calico; Kisara for sushi; Galaxy for an updated, mid-century modern meal; or a comforting slice of pizza from Antonio’s; the options are (pretty much) limitless.
