School Honors AP Scholars, National Merit Scholarship Program Honorees During Assembly

During an all-school assembly on October 27, Williston Northampton honored recent graduates and current students for their performance in the Advance Placement (AP) exams and four current students for their placement in the National Merit scholarship program.

Seventy-six students were honored for their AP placements in the four categories established by the College Board, including 26 current students. Calvin Klumpp ’24, Catie Spence ’24, Jeffrey Warner ’24, and Joe Zhou ’24 were also honored for earning Commended status by the National Merit scholarship program for their strong performances on the PSAT test taken in October 2022.

Academic Dean Kim Polin addressed the assembly during the awards ceremony. Below are her remarks in full.

Good morning. My name is Mrs. Polin and I am the Academic Dean. This morning we will recognize some students based on their strong performance on AP exams.

50 graduates from the Class of 2023 were honored in one of the four categories established by the College Board. In addition to those graduated students, 26 current students have been recognized by the College Board for their performance on AP exams taken in grades 9-11.  We congratulate all of you.

Recognition as an “AP SCHOLAR” is granted to students with scores of 3 or higher on 3 or more AP exams.
