Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.
Carter Cleary ’25- Boys Varsity Cross Country
Carter was instrumental in helping the boys varsity cross country team defeat Taft this past weekend. Despite battling a cold and a long bus ride, Carter put in a gutsy performance on another hot fall day. Carter, a team captain, has been working hard all season and has consistently been one of the top five runners on the team in every meet. He is poised to finish his Williston running career on a positive note as the team heads into the final weeks of the season.
Ozora Yazaki ’27 – Boys JV Cross Country
Ozora has been improving steadily throughout the season and had a breakout performance this past weekend at Taft. Ozora significantly improved his personal best time on a difficult course. He has tremendous potential, and the coaches are extremely excited about what Ozora will do during the final weeks of the season and in the coming years.
Francesca Gionfriddo ’26- Girls Cross Country
Francesca is a dedicated member of the girls varsity cross country team. She has shown remarkable improvement this season, recently breaking her personal record in the race against Miss Porters earlier this October. Known for her strong work ethic, she consistently pushes herself during practices, inspiring her teammates with her determination. With her relentless drive and positive attitude, Francesca exemplifies the spirit of the team. Her coaches and teammates appreciate her dedicated effort this year and look forward to her continued contributions as they work through the remainder of the season.
Nora Curtis ’25- Varsity Field Hockey
Nora has been a dominating force and leader on the forward line all season for the varsity field hockey team. This week in particular, Nora was a key factor in the team’s win over Taft. Her points helped the team to go into overtime, where Nora commanded the midfield and facilitated a play to get her teammates in the circle to score. Nora has been working consistently hard to improve her stick skills and shot, which paid off in a multi-point game against Pomfret on Saturday. The team can always count on Nora to be running hard and pitching in defensively. Nora’s outstanding efforts were a key component in the wins this week and the success so far this season. Her coaches and teammates are looking forward to Nora keeping up the hard work!
Acacia Nickeo ’27 – JV Field Hockey
Despite never playing the goalie position before, Acacia did a phenomenal job in the cage in JV field hockey’s game against Pomfret. Even though the Wildcats suffered a defeat, Acacia was a force to be reckoned with. Her coaches stopped counting after 10 saves, including multiple strong kicks that cleared the ball from the circle, effectively ending Pomfret’s offensive threat. A truly outstanding performance! Acacia’s teammates and coaches look forward to her continued contributions to the team during the remainder of the season.
Troy Worrell ’25- Varsity Football
Troy did it all for the Wildcats on Saturday night in their 49-41 win over Cheshire. He led the way in the pass game catching 9 balls for 135 yards. He also rushed 3 times for 49 yards. When he didn’t have the ball in his hands, he did a great job blocking for his teammates, proving his team first mentality. The Cat’s will continue to rely on Troy for his team first approach and his excellent play as they work through the back half of the season.
Tristan Kokoszka ’26- Boys Varsity Soccer
Tristan, the junior midfielder, was in great form last week, helping the boys varsity soccer team defeat Cheshire Academy 5-1. The Easthampton native scored the Wildcats’ opening two goals before providing an assist on the fifth goal of the afternoon. Tristan continued his strong offensive play in Saturday’s game vs Taft, where he scored a wonderful left-footed strike before assisting the final goal of the game. The Boys Varsity soccer team is gearing up for two important Class B games this week as they travel to local rivals Wilbraham and Monson on Wednesday before hosting Suffield on Friday evening. The team is counting on Tristan to continue his strong offensive production in the final weeks of the season as the Wildcats prepare their playoff push.
Jack Wilson ’26 -Boys JVA Soccer
Jack has been a steady, strong force for JVA boys soccer all season long. The Wildcats had a tough loss against a very talented Taft squad, but Jack was one of the standouts for the team despite nursing a first half injury. In addition to regularly winning his one-on-one duels with opponents, he has provided a great offensive outlet from his outside back position and has been a good contributor on set piece delivery as well. With his excellent positional awareness, and as one of the most technically sound players on the team, he models how to play soccer well for the younger, less experienced players. He is fun to coach as well and brings exactly the right attitude in terms of competing in practice.
Harrrison Consedine ’27- Boys JVB Soccer
Harrison has been essential to JVB soccer this season. He is a very strong and versatile player that can play different positions well. Lately, he has been playing center back and given more intensity and aggressiveness to the JVB defense. During the last three games, Williston has allowed only one goal, and Harrison has been a decisive part of that. His skills and sacrifice for the team have been a big part of the team’s success so far. His coaches are looking forward to his continued growth on the field this season.
Luke Berrian ’30- Boys Juniors soccer
Tim Howard, Kasey Keller, Tony Meola: famous United States men’s soccer goalies. Add Luke Berrian to the mix. The seventh-grade net-minder for the junior’s soccer team has been a brick wall in goal for the club racking up save after heroic save for his mates. In a sport where shots can top off at as little as four or five, Luke has seen nearly triple that on a few occasions this year. Berrian made five or six point-blank saves where he risked the well-being of his old body to make saves that would make the Premier League take note. He’s a hard worker and has been crucial in all of the Wildcats games this year.
Alyssa Frazier ’25- Girls Varsity Soccer
Alyssa has been a strong member of the girls varsity soccer team for the past 3 years, but has really stood out this season as a captain and someone the team relies on every game. She is a consistent leader on and off the field, always pushing teammates to be their best. Alyssa’s work ethic and determination is hard to match, and she came through for the team this past week playing hard in both games. She also notched her first goal of the season in the game against Pomfret and was a huge offensive force when she was moved up to center midfield. The coaches and players are thankful for her dedication to the team and look forward to having her lead the team to more success this season!
Ella LaFleur ’28- JV Volleyball
Ella has had an excellent season for the JV volleyball team. Her aces were crucial in the Cat’s win against Cushing last Wednesday. On Saturday, she exhibited fantastic effort on the court against Worcester academy. Ella was able to shift the tempo in the teams second and third sets with her explosive movement when receiving serves, leading Williston to a 2-1 win against Worcester.
