Wildcats Shine in Postseason Play

In a wonderful end to a very successful winter season, three different teams competed on the last weekend of the season for NEPSAC championships. On Saturday, the swim teams competed at Roger Williams University in the NEPSAC Division 2 championships in Rhode Island. Both the boys and girls teams managed to exceed their lofty expectations with exceptional season ending performances. The boys team finished in third place while the girls won their third straight NEPSAC championship with a dominant performance that included scoring a meet record 463 points. To add to this tremendous final day in the pool, both teams managed to set numerous pool, school and NEPSAC records along the way. It was a remarkable day for the Wildcats! Read more here.

Meanwhile, on the basketball court, the No. 5 seeded girls varsity basketball competed in the NEPSAC Class B final for the first time in 32 years. The team managed to win two thrilling road victories over No. 4 seeded Berkshire and No. 1 seeded Suffield to advance to Sunday’s championship game. Despite a tremendous effort, the girls story book ending came up just short when it lost the championship game to Pomfret 43-30.

Not to be outdone, in the NEPSAC Division 1 girls hockey championship, the No. 7 seeded Williston girls hockey team also overcame great odds by winning two road games–first  at No. 2 seeded Kent and then at No. 3 seeded Tabor to advance to the NEPSAC championship against No. 1 seeded Noble and Greenough. Despite their valiant efforts, the girls ran out of magic and came up short 2-0.

It was Williston’s first-ever appearance in a girls hockey NEPSAC championship game.

Despite these two final losses, it was a remarkable and historic season for the Wildcats who can look back on the 2017-18 season with tremendous pride!
