The Scholar: Acacia Nickeo
The Project: The Art of Clay
The Essential Question: I wanted to focus on creating different unique mugs from one basic shape. I wanted to explore how to make simple differences from the same basic shape. My mugs are wavy functional mugs but each one has something different about it; that may be color, shape, or size.
Surprising Discovery: Something I discovered while working on my project was how fast the time flied while working. I spent hours in the studio on the weekend and it felt like such a little about of time.
Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge I faced was figuring out how to make subtle changes while still making my mugs cohesive. I felt like my change needed to be more drastic but in reality there were was to make small changes.
Tips for future scholars: I would tell future scholars to step out of your comfort zone. When making art, it is very important to try new things that you may not be comfortable with. Getting out of your comfort zone is how you grow and learn as an artist.
