To say that Beth Denoncourt enjoyed a terrific athletic career at Williston would be an understatement. During her four years on campus, Beth earned 12 varsity letters in soccer, ice hockey and softball. During the fall, Beth played soccer for Coach Jeff Pilgrim ’81, captaining the team and earning most valuable player honors in both her junior and senior seasons. In her senior year, she helped the team set a school record for most wins in a season. In the winter, she hit the ice for the hockey team, excelling “between the pipes” as an outstanding goalie for Coach Estee Ticknor’s squad. Elected team captain in her junior and senior years, Beth was also voted the team’s MVP all four years she played! On the softball field she continued to serve as a team leader, captaining the team from center field while helping to lead the team to unprecedented success. At the end of her senior year, to no one’s surprise, Beth and current hall of famer Dani Holtschlag ’96 shared the Alumnae Award given to the top senior athlete. Following her graduation from Williston, Beth headed north to Middlebury College where she became a cornerstone of a championship women’s ice hockey program, earning all-tournament team recognition and contributing to an undefeated four-year run in the ECAC Tournament. She had an amazing 22 career shutouts in goal! There is no question that in any sport she played, Beth Denoncourt left her mark on the history of Williston athletics, setting a standard of excellence, leadership, and competitive spirit.
