Williston Welcomes 10 New Faculty Members

Williston welcomes 10 new faculty members to campus this year. We extend a hearty welcome to them all!

Tina Berghoff (Science) (not pictured above)
Tina returns to the Williston faculty in a part-time capacity teaching two sections of AP Psychology. She previously served as our Academic Support Coordinator from 2014-2016. Tina earned a BA in Psychology from Holy Cross, and an MA from Smith College in Education of the Deaf.

Russell Bollag-Miller (English)
Russell earned a BA in English Literature from Skidmore College. He has worked as an English teacher and dorm parent in the Swiss Semester program for two years. He also worked for six summers at Camp Becket-Chimney Corners. In addition to teaching English Russell will coach, and advise.

Ansel Garvey (Head Athletic Trainer)
Ansel comes to Williston from the Belmont Hill School where he served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for two years. Ansel earned a BS degree in Athletic Training from Springfield College and a MS in Kinesiology from UMass-Amherst. Ansel will be an advisor.

Anders Griffen (Library) (not pictured above)
Anders brings a strong university and public library background to Williston. Arriving in the Pioneer Valley about five years ago, he worked at the Amherst College Science Center and the Smith College Science Library prior to coming to Williston. He earned a BA in Fine Arts at SUNY-Purchase, and a Master of Library Science at UCLA. Anders lives off-campus with his family.

Terri Lee (Language)
Terri will teach Chinese at Williston. She has been working in New York City teaching at a Montessori School for two years. She earned a BA in English Language and Literature from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and a M. Ed in Chinese Language Education from Cleveland State University. In addition to teaching Chinese Terri will serve as an advisor and work in the afternoon program.

Sarah Levine (English)
Sarah finished a Masters in Art of Teaching at Smith College this spring while serving as a teaching fellow at the Hilltown Charter School. She also holds an M.F.A. in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and a B.A. in English from UMass-Amherst. She also taught for four years at the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion School. In addition to teaching English, Sarah will coach and advise.

Liam McMahon (English)
Liam just completed his third year of teaching at Tilton School. He is a New Hampton School graduate who grew up on that campus. He has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Stonehill College. In addition to teaching English, Liam will be the Head Girls basketball coach, advise, and serve as the dorm head in Hathaway House.

Gianna Muscari (English)
Gianna (pronounced “Johnna,” or call her G) graduated from Skidmore College with a B.S. in Education Studies. Gianna also played lacrosse at Skidmore. She is a Millbrook School alum who was a four-year varsity athlete in lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. In addition to teaching English, Gianna will coach and advise.

Matthew Poage (Computer Science and Robotics) (not pictured above)
Matthew will join Williston as a full-time faculty member in 2019-20. This past year he taught two classes in Computer Science and worked with our Robotics program. Matthew earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Amherst College, and holds a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in Mathematics and Logic. He worked at Miss Porter’s School for 15 years before coming to Williston last fall. Matthew will teach a full slate of Computer Science classes, lead the Robotics team, and advise.

Ben Weinberg (Math)
Ben is a Kenyon College alum who was a double major in Mathematics and Economics. Before joining Williston, he worked as an After School teacher and as an associate at a technology start up company in the Boston area. He was a four-year varsity letterman on the Kenyon track team and cross country teams. In addition to teaching math Ben will coach and advise.
