Each trimester, the Language Department awards high-performing students with a Student of the Trimester award. For Trimester 2 of the 2025–26 academic year, the T2 Language Students were honored during an assembly on March 24. Below are the list of winners, and why they were selected.

Amaya Arias Soto ’29 — French I
From day one, Amaya has been a focused and dedicated French student. She is committed to becoming a French speaker. She always studies to mastery and learns from her few mistakes—viewing them, rightly, as a gift toward progress. Amaya embraces our immersion classroom and joyfully models how to communicate with “what you already know” in class each day. She studies well and thoroughly, but most impressively, she always pushes herself to use her burgeoning skills to communicate, including outside of class. She is a surely a rising star in the French department. Brava!
Pranesh Prakash Babu ’29 — French II
Pranesh is a hard worker in every sense of the word. He consistently puts forth his best effort and approaches each task with determination and perseverance. He is attentive to details, ensuring that his work is thoughtful, accurate, and carefully completed. Eager to learn, Pranesh actively seeks out new knowledge and embraces challenges as opportunities to grow. He is not afraid to share his ideas; he contributes meaningfully to class discussions and inspires others with his confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
Claire Hart ’29 — Latin I
In trimester two the difficulty level of Latin I ramped up considerably, and with her indefatigable work ethic, strong study skills and incisive questions Claire Hart met and conquered every challenge. With each contribution to our class discussion Claire models intellectual engagement: her questions reveal how meticulously she studies and how thoughtfully and logically she approaches new concepts, trying to fit them into the Latin foundation she has built. They also provide an opportunity for her classmates to better understand the material we are learning. Kudos to Claire on an outstanding winter term in Latin!
Ryan Doll ’27 — Honors Latin IV
During trimester two Ryan consistently went above and beyond, profoundly and earnestly engaging with the Latin texts and essential questions of Roman history we studied throughout the term. Ryan completed written assignments ahead of their due dates, led the way in discussions, and showed a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding emperor Augustus’ rise to power and representation in our Latin sources. Ryan is also growing increasingly proficient in translating and comprehending sophisticated Latin literature. Bravo, Ryan!
Robert Ghazey-Bates — Spanish I
Robby is a thoughtful language learner. He does a wonderful job of using Spanish to communicate in class, piecing new vocabulary words together to convey his message. His fearless production of language sets a strong example for what it means to be an active and engaged Spanish I learner.

Izzy Matthew has always been a strong language learner, a serious and focused student who cares deeply about her progress. This trimester, she has shown tremendous improvement in her communication skills in Spanish class.
