Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Remy Brown 30 – Boys JV Basketball

Over the course of the season, Remy has grown into his role as the team’s primary point guard. His development took a huge step forward on Saturday when he scored 19 points in a double-overtime game against NMH. That point total was the highest for any player this year. While the Wildcats didn’t prevail in the game, Remy showed his leadership by running the offense and playing every minute of both overtime periods.

Catie Putt ’26 – Girls Varsity Hockey

Catie Putt is a four-year member of the program who consistently brings positive energy to both practices and games. She is a strong skater with excellent vision and plays a complete 200-foot game. Over the course of her career, Catie has been incredibly versatile — anchoring the wildcats defensively while also jumping into the offense when needed. In the Wildcats 2–1 win over Choate, she had several key shifts that helped build momentum during a late third-period surge. On Saturday, despite the loss, Catie moved up to forward and once again did whatever the team needed. She blocked crucial shots on the penalty kill, was relentless on the forecheck, and maintained her strong defensive presence. Catie’s willingness to adapt and compete in any role speaks to her character and leadership. We look forward to her continued contributions as the season progresses.

Riana Shaw ’26 – Girls JV Hockey

Riana has shown a strong commitment to improving her game all season, consistently putting in the work to get better each day. This week, she demonstrated true versatility by stepping in to play defense when the team needed her most. She embraced the opportunity with an open mind and rose to the challenge, delivering an outstanding performance. We are incredibly proud of Riana for stepping outside of her comfort zone for her teammates and showing what it means to put the team first.

Pranesh Prakash Babu ’29 – Boys JV Squash

Pranesh is an exceptionally talented squash player with outstanding technical skills and natural court awareness. He works hard in every practice and is loved and respected by his teammates. His touch, shot selection, and ability to construct points show maturity beyond his level. In his last match against Bement, he earned his win by staying disciplined and consistent with shots to the back of the court, smartly alternating with well-timed drop shots. Pranesh has all the tools to develop into a truly dominant competitor in the coming seasons.

Mina Mao ’28 – Girls Varsity Squash

Mina had a monumental week, charting two 3-1 victories over tough opponents Westminster and Pomfret. Against Westminster, Mina split the first two games before roaring ahead with two tight games to finish out her 3-1 win. Her patience and mental fortitude after a brief comeback from her opponent both helped her close out her opponent. Over the weekend against Pomfret, Mina faced a similar challenge, splitting the first two games before pulling out another 3-1 victory. This time, her serve carried her to victory, as she emphasized depth and height to the back corner to immediately place her opponent on the defensive. As the final regular match on court, Mina maintained her composure with all eyes on her match. Congratulations on a phenomenal week, Mina!

Kiara Santos ’27 – Girls JV Squash

From the beginning of the season, Kiara has exhibited strong character, excellent sportsmanship, and a positive competitive spirit in every sense of the word. At her advanced level, she trains mostly with the varsity girls’ squash team while competing on the JV team. Whenever she is around, she makes sure to help other players by offering pointers to improve their game, spending extra time working with them to develop their skills. During matches, she is fierce, competitive, and focused, having won more than four matches this season against strong opponents. Kiara is an excellent athlete with a great attitude.

Casey Muscato has been a steady influence for the boys swimming & diving team this season. As a senior captain he has done all that has been asked of him and has performed well across many events in the lineup.
