Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.
Lachlan Maddock ’27 – Boys Varsity Cross Country
Lachlan had a great race this past Saturday, running a PR and outracing a number of Taft runners that helped us secure the victory on the day. Lachlan has been working hard all season and has been experiencing consistent improvement due to his hard work. He has a great sense of humor that has helped to build comradery within the team and makes even the most challenging workouts fun. The coaches are excited to see Lachlan finish the season running his best.
Jo Bertini ’31 – Boys JV Cross Country
Jo had an outstanding race this past Saturday against Taft, running a PR on another hot day. One of the youngest members of the team, Jo brings a great work ethic to every practice. He is always striving to improve and will attack any workout the coaches design with enthusiasm and determination. Jo has a great attitude and the coaches see tremendous potential for Jo in the program. We look forward to watching him continue to improve throughout the remainder of the season and the years to come.
Sarah Martini ’26 – Girls Varsity Cross Country
This week, we’re proud to highlight Sarah Martini ‘26, who just had her best run of the season against a strong Taft squad, with an incredible time of 24:18 – just 7 seconds off her personal record! From the very start of the season, Sarah has been all in – showing up, putting in the work, and pushing through even on the tough days. She is a strong competitor who continues to improve with every race. Not only is she dropping time each week, but she’s also consistently finishing in our top 3, helping secure crucial points for the team. Whether it’s on the course or at practice, she leads by example and is an irreplaceable part of our squad. Go Wildcats!
River Grady ’27 – Varsity Field Hockey
River has been the rock that has propelled the team to success. This past week, River faced the most shots she has seen during the season and only allowed one goal. In fact, throughout the season, she has only allowed 3 goals throughout the first 10 games. This season, River has stepped into a leadership role. From the net, she is cheering on her teammates, encouraging strong defense, and helping to direct people to any open players. River has improved her clears and rebound control which has allowed the team to develop offense quickly. We are so proud of the progress River has made and cannot wait to see more improvement throughout the rest of the season!
Kiara Santos ’27 – JV Field Hockey
Kiara emerged as a defensive star in JV field hockey’s hard-fought loss against Pomfret. Kiara infused energy and leadership into her defensive play: she communicated clearly and effectively with her teammates, hustled to the ball, and executed decisive blocks at key points in the game. Even when Kiara was on the sidelines, she could always be heard cheering on her teammates and inspiring her fellow Wildcats. Kiara is a valued member of the team, and her coaches and teammates look forward to more strong play from her during the remainder of the season.
Chase Bedrossian ’27 – Varsity Football
Chase Bedrossian had a huge night for the Wildcats in their 29-21 win over Cheshire on Friday night. Defensively he finished the game with three tackles, three QB hurries, and a Sack. Furthermore, he had many key blocks on both Offense and Special Teams to spring open big holes for the ball carriers. He played more snaps than anyone and was a huge reason that the Wildcats won!
Adrian Ruiz Boughton ’26 – Boys Varsity Soccer
Adrian Ruiz Boughton’s play this season has been nothing short of courageous. The Monterrey native has played a critical role in the success of the Boys Varsity team this fall. His work ethic and competitiveness is second to none. He competes for every loose ball and pressures opposing players all while battled through leg pain. Adrian and his teammates are preparing to make a strong case for a playoff birth in the final three weeks of the regular season. The Wildcats host Wilbraham on Wednesday before traveling to Suffield on Friday evening.
Bennett Evelti ’26 – Boys JV A Soccer
Bennett has been at the heart of our offense for a couple of years now as our most technically gifted player, and most unselfish player too. He has been a team leader in assists in recent years, and has added some power and speed to his game this year while maintaining his unselfish play. He has scored some beautiful goals as well, this year including a curling, edge of the box effort that found the top corner (also against Eaglebrook).
Siu Tran ’27 – Boys JV A Soccer
Siu has had a breakout season this year, averaging more than a goal a game, some of which have been spectacular individual goals or the end of equally great team goals. One highlight in particular was a bullet goal in the top right corner, another was a power header. He is tenacious in the press, pestering opponents and frequently beating them with his great speed.
Jayme Cerasuolo ’26 – Girls Varsity Soccer
This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to Jayme, a senior captain, who continues to lead by example in every way. She pulls the team together with her positivity, commitment, and steady leadership. Whether it’s supporting teammates on or off the field, or making decisions that put the team first, she consistently shows what it means to be a true leader. On top of that, her skills and composure on the field have been a huge part of our success this season, setting the standard for excellence every time she plays. Keep it up Jayme!
Blue Meyerson ’26 – Girls Varsity Volleyball
As a four-year senior on varsity, Blue’s energy helps inspire the team to play hard. One of Blue’s best qualities is that she’s scrappy. She consistently dives all over the court, refusing to let the ball drop. This is what makes her such a force on defense. Blue is ready to play any position in the back row: libero, middle back, or right back, and is ready to be called on in any moment. Regardless of the position, her hard-working determination is what inspires her teammates as well. Plus, her serve has become a truly scary force, powerful and consistent. We will miss Blue so much next year.
Luke Green ’26 – Boys Varsity Water Polo
Luke’s leadership in and out of the pool has been instrumental in the team’s success. His support of the younger players has played a significant role in developing several into major contributors for the team while also improving his own skills. This past week Luke had his best play in big games with Hopkins and Deerfield, winning the ball multiple times, leading the team in goals and playing stellar defense. With several more crucial games ahead the team will continue to rely on Luke for their success.
