Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.
Olin Rose-Bardawil ’25– Boys Varsity Cross Country
Olin has been running well since the start of the season but had two particularly strong races at the NMH Invitational and this past weekend against Avon Old Farms. Olin has firmly established himself as one of the top runners on the team with his consistent performances. A team captain, Olin always sets a positive example through his hard work and positive attitude. Olin’s coaches look forward to his continued growth and leadership as they work through the back half of the season.
Simon Wright ’28- Boys JV Cross Country
Simon has been a great addition to the boys cross country program this season. Simon works extremely hard in every practice and has been making significant progress in races. Simon has a promising career ahead of him and his coaches and teammates are excited about what he can achieve in the years to come.
Zola Piekarski ’26- Varsity Field Hockey
This season, Zola has been an offensive rockstar leading the team in both goals and assists. On Wednesday, Zola eclipsed the 100-point mark at a record-breaking pace with a 4-point first quarter against Austin Prep. Zola also commanded the game on Saturday with her play-making skills and an incredible stroke in an 8-0 win over Westminster. Not only has Zola been leading the team by example through her offensive skills, but she has stepped into defensive roles with ease. She works closely with her teammates and coaches to ask questions and improve so that she can be a team-first player. As a captain, Zola is encouraging those around her to work on their skills outside of practice time by getting up to the field or staying late to work on hits and stick skills. Her coaches and teammates are so excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for Zola!
Lucas Guay ’26- Varsity Football
Lucas had a monster game for the Wildcats in their 35-20 win over Salisbury. He led the way for the defense with 10 tackles, a sack, a TFL, and a PBU. Additionally, he made one of the biggest plays of the game when he sniffed out a fake punt and stuffed Salisbury before they could get a first down. Lucas, a consummate teammate, leads by example each day as he brings a consistently strong work ethic and a great attitude to practice each day. The Wildcats will look to Lucas to be at his best as they work through the rest of their competitive season.
Dylan Haber ’27 – JV Football
Dylan came back to the team after being sidelined in a big way, leading the Cat’s to a big win over WMA. As a cornerback, Dylan led the Wildcat defense to a shutout victory with two interceptions, and 1.5 TFL. Dylan also broke up a deep WMA pass early in the game and played a big part in edge run support, helping Williston to shut down the opponent’s run game. The Wildcats will continue to lean on Dylan for his positive contributions.
Thomas Neal ’28- Boys JVB Soccer
Thomas has been a stalwart to the success of the boys JVB soccer program this season. His contributions continued this week as he scored twice against Eagle Hill. Thomas consistently brings a positive attitude, strong effort, and persistence to the team every day. His hard work and determination make a big impact on the team.
James Honig ’29– Boys Juniors Soccer
James Honig had a strong showing in the Wildcats past two games. He scored two goals and assisted on two more against Bement and added one goal against Rectory, helping his team earn two wins. James is a second-year player for the juniors soccer team and he has done a great job bringing his enthusiasm for the game and his improvement from last year along for the ride this season. As an eighth grader, his coaches are leaning on him for his leadership of the new seventh graders. James’ coaches appreciate all his contributions this season.
Olivia Ferebee ’25- Girls Varsity Soccer
Liv has really stepped up the past week for Girls Varsity Soccer. Not only was she voted a captain by her team, as the team’s most veteran player, but she is incredibly selfless and is willing to do whatever it takes for her teammates. She stepped into playing goalie the past two weeks, a position she has never played on the soccer field. Liv was solid in the net, putting her body in front of any shot she could which allowed her teammates to play in front of her with confidence, knowing she would do anything to stop the ball. Her team feels very fortunate to have Liv’s leadership this year and look forward to her impactful role for the rest of the season!
Mel McCullough ’26- Varsity Volleyball
Mel’s hustle and heart have been demonstrated time and time again on the court this year. She has stepped up in the team’s 5:1 offense to be the Cat’s main setter, effectively navigating the floor and dishing the ball to the best offensive option. As our setter, Mel is charged with setting the rhythm and tone of the offense. Every second ball is hers and she is ultimately in charge of how the offense runs. Mel’s court awareness has improved tremendously as she even gets kills for herself, finding the back corner or tip over the opposing outside hitter’s block to consistently keep the defense on their toes. Her coaches feel lucky to have Mel as part of the team and look forward to many more contributions from her as the season progresses.
