Explore Program

Williston has a rich tradition in girls cross country that goes back to its inception in 1978. Competing in NEPSAC Division II, the team has enjoyed tremendous success over the years including winning the championship twice and finishing runner-up three times. Athlete’s abilities and experience range from beginner through New England champions. The camaraderie of the group is one of the primary reasons why so many girls become so committed to participating on the team. We stress healthy training, which leads to enjoying competition on both the varsity and JV level. There are great local options for training including the extensive campus, a large neighboring park (Nonotuck) and easy access to the Manhan Rail Trail, as well as local field trips to great training options. The program proudly competes and trains on our home course, built in 2017, which is entirely on campus and includes both visibility on our athletic fields and beautiful loops over bridges and through our woods. A typical week of training includes a variety of workouts including long distance, speed and interval training, and both hill and pool workouts. The team competes on Saturdays in a combination of dual meets and invitationals including our own Shaler Invitational, one of the largest invitational races in NEPSAC.
