The Project: Healing Through the Struggle

The Essential Question: My project is a 4 song EP accompanied by a 10-minute lyric video showing a collage of different pictures and events of my life. The music is meant to be a musical journal of different things I went through and experienced good and bad. The goal is to show healing through music as you listen through the EP and show a vulnerable side of my personal life that listeners may relate to.

Surprising Discovery: I talked a lot more about my faith than I expected which I believed helped elevate my work and also strengthen my relationship with God.

Biggest Challenge: My biggest challenge was technology complications in the studio with software crashing etc. I overcame it through and still managed to complete all four songs and a video for my performance.

Tips for future scholars: Go into Scholars knowing what you want to do and working to improve your skills in the class. From a music-creating perspective, it is very relaxing and liberating to be able to pour your heart out into music and know you’re doing it for a class.
