Wearable Art
Lila Schaefer ’20 is building a following one stitch at a time. Through her online shop, the New York City–based artist designs and handcrafts brushed mohair hats that pair featherlight softness with just-right, made-to-order color combinations. Recently in the spotlight after being featured by prominent fashion blogger Leandra Medine Cohen, Schaefer’s slow-fashion brand also includes beaded charms, knit neckies, hand-crocheted bags, and more. Check out her work at lilaschaefer.com or on Instagram (@lilaschaefer).
Heavy Metal
The sculptural jewelry of artist and designer Kieva (Campbell) Chalett ’10 exudes a kind of raw power. Working primarily in sterling silver, Chalett shapes heavy links and organic forms into necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings that feel at once gritty and elegant. She describes her New York City–based studio, DVASHE, as a process-driven fine sculpting practice with each piece bearing the marks of the hand and the intention behind it. The result is jewelry designed to be both felt and seen. See more at dvashe.com or on Instagram (@___dvashe).
