Last October, about 1.5 million juniors took the PSAT test, which served as the initial screening for the National Merit Scholarship program. The nationwide pool of National Merit Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
At an all-school assembly on October 9, Director of Curriculum Kim Evelti and Academic Dean Greg Tuleja presented a certificate to three seniors, declaring them semifinalists in this very prestigious program. They are:
- Nathaniel Markey
- Kenneth Wang
- Zeyu (Steven) Wang
Six students placed in the top three percent of scorers nationwide. They were granted Commended status. They are:
- Eric Albanese
- Jason Albanese
- Brenna Banas
- Julia Farnham
- Yi-Cheng (Ethan) Huang
- Tian Xing (Mark) Wang (not pictured)
In addition, Evelti announced students who were namedĀ AP Scholars; these are students who received scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. They are:

Recognition as an AP Scholar with Honor is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of those exams. AP Scholars with Honor are:
