Rosie Crooker ’22 – Girls Varsity Skiing

Rosie took first place for the girls varsity ski team’s first race of the season on Wednesday. She competed against 2 Class A schools and defeated the competition by over a second. A large margin in the sport of skiing! She has been working tremendously hard this season on and off the slopes and so her success in the Giant Slalom was no surprise! The team will continue to rely on Rosie for her leadership through example and inspiring performance.

Matthew Shields ‘21 – Boys Varsity Skiing

Matthew has been the consummate leader for the boys varsity ski team this winter. He has been working hard to improve his skills and to encourage others to do the same, day in and day out. On Wednesday, in the teams first MISL race of the season, he had the top finish for the boys at Berkshire East. He placed 6th overall, just edging out the 7th place Deerfield Academy athlete by .02 seconds. The team will continue to rely on Matthew’s stellar leadership and strong performance as they finish the remainder of the season.

Emily Zambarano ’21- Girls Varsity Hockey

Emily is a three-year member of the girls varsity hockey team. She brings a positive energy to the ice and bench every practice and game. On the ice, she has exceptional vision and is always making strong decisions with the puck.  In the team’s games over last weekend, Emily scored the game winning goal off a shot that came from Sophia Jones. Emily picked up the puck behind the net and slid it past a tremendous Winchendon goalie to make it 2-1 halfway through the second half. The goal jump started the offense and the squad went on to score two more on the day. Her coaches and teammates look forward to Emily’s continued contributions on and off the ice!

Nathan Chang ’22- Boys Varsity Squash

Nathan has been a stellar, exemplary, and focused member of the boys varsity squash team from the first practice. He consistently arrives to practice on time with a “let’s-do-this” mindset. He invests himself in each practice by physically and mentally exerting himself to be the best athlete possible. Since the start of the season, Nathan has broadened and developed his ability to perform boasts, lobs, and drops. He takes advantage of each practice to hone his skills and acquire a stronger court presence. His commitment to the team comes across in how he respects and encourages his teammates. The team looks forward to his continued growth this season.

Gianna Langone ‘22 – Girls Varsity Basketball

Gianna has quickly established herself as a force for the girls varsity basketball team this winter giving the team a strong inside presence.  In this past weekend’s contests with Winchendon, Gianna led the team in rebounding and blocked shots while scoring 17 and 19 points in back to back wins.  Offensively, her ability to score in a variety of ways inside gave Winchendon fits. Defensively, her length and communication helped to anchor the team’s defensive efforts.  The team will continue to look to Gianna to be a team leader both on and off the court.

Will Vachet ‘25- 7th & 8thgrade Boys Intermural Basketball

Will has been a great leader for the boys intramural program this season. A playmaker who gets his all his teammates involved, Will inspires his teammates to be as competitive as possible. His positive attitude and growth mindset contribute greatly to the success of our practices and scrimmages. The team will rely on Will for their continued growth this season.

Ben Carlan ‘23 – Boys JV Skiing

Ben finished on top of the Williston JV ski team’s ladder on Wednesday. He finished in 5th place overall in the team’s first MISL race of the season at Berkshire East. He has been working hard to improve his slalom times and that work has paid off with his top 5 finish!  He brings an enthusiastic and positive attitude to practice, both on and off and off the mountain. His positive leadership and example have been infectious for the rest of his teammates.

Monica Furszyfur-Massry ‘22- Girls JV Skiing

Monica raced in her first ever ski race this Wednesday in the team’s first MISL competition at Berkshire East! She completed each of her 3 runs and ended the day with a huge smile and personal record. New to the team she brings a willingness to be coached and to improve her skills daily. This has led to consistent improvement and her best performances of the season on Wednesday.

Zach Walker ’22- Boys JV Hockey

Zach is a veteran player who leads by example with his hard work and positive attitude for each JV hockey practice. He is a great team leader who encourages others to stay focused and get the most out of our time on the ice. His coaches can always count on Zach to follow instructions and demonstrate how to execute drills correctly and with maximum effort. The team will rely on Zach for their continued growth this season!

Will Seiden ‘22 – Boys JV Squash

Will started the week off with a bang by placing third in the squash program’s recent “Willibleton” all-squad tournament. He did this by knocking off several higher seeded opponents in a row and by employing calm and precise drop shots paired with aggressive serve returns. Will has embraced the sport of squash and has even devoted time outside of practice towards improving his game. His treatment of practice time with purpose and passion for the game are noticeable and he is a great asset to the team.
