Claudia Capone ‘19– Girls Varsity Lacrosse

Claudia has made a seamless transition from the ice to the field for the girls varsity lacrosse team, serving as a workhorse midfielder. She is a threat offensively, defensively and everywhere in between. Utilizing her speed, athleticism and grit to be involved across the field she has made a hugely positive impact for the squad. In a disappointing loss to Hotchkiss to open the season, Claudia played midfield, attack and defense, winning three draws and dishing out one assist in the process. She followed that effort with a great week of practice, staying focused and determined to improve. The Cats will continue to look towards Claudia for her impact play and tenacious team first attitude.

Kevin Talbot ’20- Boys Varsity Lacrosse

Kevin brought a consistently high level of play in the boys varsity lacrosse team’s first full week of competition. As the teams go-to faceoff man he could be counted on to win the majority of the battles at the faceoff X. He came away with 13/17 of the draws against a strong opponent from Albany Academy on Wednesday. Not to be outdone on Saturday he managed to win 18 of the 20 faceoffs against Gunnery! A tireless worker, Kevin is looked upon as a steady anchor for the team to rely on. In addition to his outstanding play, Kevin is a positive role model for his teammates, as well as the whole community as he started a fundraiser to support cancer treatment and improve the lives of individuals affected by cancer! Louisa Weed ’20- Girls Varsity Water Polo

Louisa has had a terrific start for the girls water polo team. On Wednesday against Choate, she was instrumental in the team’s quick start, scoring three goals in route to a Wildcat victory. In the weekend match up against Exeter, Louisa played nearly the entire game for the short-handed squad. Her continuously positive attitude and focus on improvement has made her an example to play by on the team, and she has proven that you do not need to be a competitive swimmer to be a standout water polo player. The team will look towards Louisa’s continued growth in the water as the season continues.

Jonathan Toth ’20- Varsity Baseball

Jonathan has had an undeniably successful start to the season for the Wildcats. In the team’s first two games, Jonathan tallied 5 hits, including a double and a triple. Totaling a .625 batting avg, 4 runs scored, and 2 RBI, he has been a major part of the team’s early offensive success. More importantly he has made several excellent defensive plays at his short stop position. Jonathan is one of the hardest working players on the team and by doing so he leads by example every day. The Wildcats will lean on Jonathan throughout the season to provide strong play and leadership for the rest of his teammates.

Abby Seltzer ‘20-Girls Ultimate

In the first two weeks of the first ever season of girls ultimate at Williston, Abby led the team to a fantastic 3-1 start. She accumulated a staggering 21 assists and added excellent defense to help her team earn both wins. She led the charge from the handler position on offense and the deep-deep position in zone defense, owning each position. Her pulls have also been impressive, pushing each opponent to have to take possession deep in their own territory. The team will continue to lean on Abby for the remainder of the season.

Adam Johnsrud ‘20-Boys Ultimate

Adam has made a big impact in a short amount of time for the Wildcats so far this season. He can be seen bringing a great attitude and a strong willingness to learn every day at practice and in competition. Adam has quickly learned the offense and is a relentless downfield cutter, becoming our go-to receiver near the end zone. Adam consistently leads the ultimate team by example as he is one of the hardest workers on the field and is always willing to help his teammates improve to reach the end goal of a successful season.

Dalina Nguyen ‘21 – Girls JV Tennis

Dalina has been a strong addition to the JV girl tennis program. She started her Williston tennis career with a win against a strong Suffield player. She displayed mental strength as she fought off her opponent who began to close the gap in the score. Eventually, Dalina regained focus and put the game away for the win. Not only has she displayed consistent level of improvement over the past few weeks but she has brought a fun attitude to practice day in and day out. The team feeds off her positivity and desire to get better. Dalina is a great teammate who is always ready and willing to help her team when she is called upon.

T Sawatyanon ‘20-Boys JV Tennis

With a quiet and unassuming personality, T leads by example on the Boy’s JV Tennis team. Listening intently when coached, having a positive attitude towards his teammates, and showing consistent respect for his opponents across the net, T is a beacon of what Wildcats athletics is all about. This past Wednesday, T played the number 6 singles position at the team’s opening road match against Eaglebrook. Despite the windy day and a lengthy wait for his match to start, T watched and cheered on his teammates, played a great match, and came away with a tight 8-6 victory. T’s all around efforts for the Wildcats will be heavily counted on as the season continues!
