Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Tony Koo ’26 – JV Baseball

Tony was a true leader on the JV Baseball team this season, a result of his effective pitching, strong hitting, and enthusiasm for the game.  Tony displayed a positive attitude and enjoyed being on the field each day, setting a great example for his younger teammates.  His love of baseball was infectious, and he did a great job as the captain of a very young team, pushing his teammates to improve, but also appreciating them for who they are and what they bring each day.

Alex Giguere ’26 – Boys JV Golf

In his last match as a Williston golfer, Alex shot a 36 to help pace us to victories over Suffield and Berkshire. It was the first time in recent history that the Williston Boys’ JV Golf team broke the 200-stroke mark for a match which was in large part due to Alex’s score. He has been an avid and enthusiastic golfer throughout his tenure here at Williston, and he will be missed next year.

Ava Carr ’28 – Girls Varsity Golf

Sophomore Ava Carr led the Williston Varsity Girls golf team to a 12th place finish at the NEPSAC Pippy O’Connor golf championships held last Monday at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. Ava tied for 14th place in a field of 118 golfers from 34 NEPSAC schools. Ava shot a team low 85 and birdied four of her 18 holes. The team looks forward to more low scores in competition from Ava over the next two years.

Lauren Martinez ’26 – Girls Varsity Tennis

Partnering with Blue Meyerson this weekend at the Suffield Invitational, Lauren claimed the #2 doubles title with dominant wins over WMA and Ethel Walker in the round robin stage and Cheshire in the final. Having never played together, the pair exceeded all expectations as they found a steady groove over the course of the day on Saturday. Lauren dominated the net, effortlessly putting away volleys on both sides and extending rallies with her quick movements from the baseline. Throughout the season Lauren remained a beacon of light, encouraging the team with her positivity and humor. Her contributions, along with wins at #1 doubles for Bella Marinello and Julia Lloret, clinched first place for Williston at the tournament this weekend.
