Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.
David Truoiolo ’30 – JV Baseball
David has been a vocal leader on the JV baseball team all season. His focus, baseball knowledge, and intensity set a great tone for his teammates, as does his high level of play. Though only in 8th grade, David is a true leader on the team both with his words and by example. He strikes a remarkable balance between pushing everyone to improve and raise their level of play, while simultaneously being inclusive and positive to everyone on the team. The team is better for his efforts behind the plate in games, and as a leader each day in practice.
Sophia Zhou ’28 – Girls Varsity Golf
Last Wednesday Sophia Zhou came from two holes down to defeat Loomis’s number one player at Southampton Country Chub shooting a four over 39. Sophia made back to back birdies on holes five and six to tie the match with three holes to play. She took a one up lead on hole seven with bogey and held on to win 1 up on the final hole. Sophia persevered through wet and rainy conditions for the victory over a strong Loomis player. Throughout the season Sophia has faced opponent’s number one or two player in match play format with determination and focus. Her steady shots off the tee and improved short game have been a strength for Williston this spring.
Luca Duffy ’29 – Boys JV Lacrosse
Since joining the JV lacrosse team, Luca has been a consistent presence both on and off the field. His personality and energy are infectious! Whether it’s leading stretches before practice or locking down opponents as a Short Stick D Middie, his impact is always felt. Against Westminster last week, Luca was the most aggressive player on the team, taking on their midfielders, forcing turnovers, and clearing the ball. In the final week of the season, we look forward to watching Luca grow and develop as a player and a leader.
Scarlette Graybill ’26 – Girls Varsity Lacrosse
Scarlette has been a dominant player for the Wildcats for the past four years, and last week was no exception. Helping the team to a 2-1 record with wins over Loomis Chaffee and Pomfret, Scarlette once again led our offensive efforts. She scored four goals against Loomis and had another seven goals and one assist against Pomfret, and in doing so, she broke the girls lacrosse program’s career points record with her 300th point. Not only does Scarlette hold the new career points record, but she does so while being the ultimate team player. While finding her most comfort on the offensive end of the field, Scarlette has developed into a dominant circle player, winning countless possessions off the draw, and she has been relied upon to play midfield this year as well, showing up huge on the defensive end for the first time in her career. She is a complete player who will go down as one of the best to wear a Wildcats uniform.
Jack Choo ’27 – Varsity Ultimate
Jack has been the centerpiece of our team throughout the year. His deep throws are accurate, putting his receivers in the position to make easy catches. His own deep routes lead to amazing catches. He repeatedly out-jumped opposing players this weekend, both on offense and defense. Jack is a steady leader, bringing consistent positive energy and guidance. The team will count on him as we move to our championship weekend!
