Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Izzy Jimah ’28 – Girls JV Basketball

While we are proud of the progress the entire team has made this season, Izzy has stood out because of her steady leadership and commitment to improving her game. Coming into the year with no prior basketball experience, Izzy committed herself to learning the game and consistently looked for ways to improve. She asked thoughtful questions during practices and games, worked to apply feedback, and showed a genuine investment in her development. Nominated by her peers as a team captain, Izzy has brought encouragement and positivity to the group whether she is on the court or supporting from the bench. In the final games of the season, she led the team in rebounds and helped the team stay focused on limiting turnovers, goals the team emphasized all year. Her willingness to learn and contribute has made a meaningful difference for the team this season.

David Truoiolo ’30 – Boys JV Hockey

David has worked hard all season long. His hard work and dedication finally paid off in a recent game at Pomfret in which he scored a hat trick.  David has also done a great job on special teams as well.  He is an integral part of the penalty kill.  The pressure he puts on the opponent with the puck as well as his quick backchecking have kept many teams from scoring while he’s on the ice.  Even though David is one of the younger members of the team, he sets a great example of what it is to be a hockey player.

Caroline Doherty ’26 – Girls Varsity Hockey

Caroline Doherty, a PG student, has been a wonderful addition to the team this season. Although her season ended sooner than we had hoped, she continued to bring a positive spirit to the group, even when she wasn’t on the ice. Caroline has been an outstanding teammate and leader, consistently checking in on others and helping lift everyone up during practices and from the bench. We have truly appreciated her maturity, experience, and the steady presence she has brought to our team throughout the season.

Audrey Capshaw ’27 – Girls JV Hockey

As a captain, Audrey has been a pivotal part of this team’s success. She is a strong leader on the ice, setting the tone with her work ethic, competitiveness, and commitment each day. Audrey brings a consistently positive attitude and a great sense of humor that keeps the energy light and connected, even in high-pressure moments. Her leadership, effort, and ability to lift up her teammates make her an invaluable part of this group.

Max Fortin ’29 – Boys JV Squash

This season, Max has truly been one of the most improved players on the JV squad. The growth he has shown across all aspects of his game has been impressive and well-earned. Technically, Max’s racket preparation is earlier; his swing is more compact, and he is striking the ball with much greater consistency and control. His length to the back of the court has improved significantly, and he is now able to hit deeper, tighter rails that put real pressure on his opponents. Max’s movement and court positioning have also taken a big step forward. He is recovering to the T more instinctively and with better balance. Most importantly, his improvement reflects his work ethic and willingness to learn. He listens to feedback, applies corrections, and pushes himself in practice. If he continues this trajectory, there is no doubt that he will keep climbing and making a strong impact on the team.
