Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.
Adi Mahtani ’26- Boys JV Basketball
Last Wednesday, the boys JV basketball team made the trip to Salisbury and came home with a 46–37 victory. Adi played crucial minutes in the second half, using his size well to overpower the smaller Salisbury team and finishing with 11 points. Eight of these points came in the second half as the team extended their lead and wore down the opponents from Salisbury. The team has been working hard on finishing around the basket and contesting rebounds both offensively and defensively. Adi has worked to improve this aspect of his game, which was evident against Salisbury and contributed to the Wildcats win. As the Cats gear up for the final push of the season, the team will look to Adi for continued success in the paint.
Lev Duryea ’27 – Boys Thirds Basketball
In a thrilling overtime win against Eaglebrook, Lev did a little bit of everything to help lead the Wildcats to the win. He scored a team-high 17 points, including seven in the fourth quarter and overtime, to keep the team going offensively, and also had several key assists to get his teammates going. Lev also attacked the glass hard as a guard, creating key rebounds late in the game as his team was trying to hold on for the win. But more impressive than the stats themselves was Lev’s leadership. When the team needed to keep level heads, Lev did a great job ushering his teammates along and keeping the Wildcats together as a team.
Skyler Walker ’26- Girls Varsity Basketball
In the girls varsity basketball team’s victory over Deerfield on Wednesday, junior forward Skyler Walker led all scorers with 20 points and played outstanding defense in the paint. Blocking five shots and altering many others, her defensive intensity was key to holding the visitors to only 29 points on 18% shooting. Over the course of the week, during games against Deerfield and Hotchkiss, Skyer came through with a total of 7 steals, 7 blocks and 13 deflections, to go with her 35 points. Skyler’s ability to generate offense off the drive, in the paint, and on the perimeter has been impressive. Perhaps even more importantly, her competitive fire, defensive leadership, and solid rebounding against even the strongest opponents, give the Wildcats a strong foundation to build upon during the remainder of this season.
Nina Coffee ’26 – Girls Varsity Hockey
Nina has been a standout on defense throughout the season. She plays with intensity in the corners, disrupts opponents’ offenses, and uses her stick effectively in the defensive zone. Nina has been an exceptional communicator on the ice, always directing traffic and ensuring her teammates are in position. She’s also shown a great willingness to jump into the offense when the opportunity arises. A perfect example of this came on Saturday at Kent, when she picked up the puck in her team’s own end, skated through a couple of Kent players, and scored to put the Wildcats on the board, making it 1-0. We look forward to Nina’s strong contributions for the remainder of the season.
Connor Graff ’26- Boys Varsity Squash
In a few short years, Connor has gone from a beginner to the Wildcats stalwart number 3 player. Connor‘s greatest strength is his confidence. There is no shot too tricky to lean, no player too good to compete against, no ball too good to track down. He is intensity personified, a characteristic essential to high level squash. This weekend Connor managed to win back-to-back matches against Avon and Canterbury, helping lead WNS to its first win of the season.
Madi Goulet ’27- Girls JV Squash
Madi has returned to squash this year with remarkable progress in her overall game. Her backhand and forehand skills have significantly improved, but her serve stands out as a true asset. Combining power and precision, her strong serve has consistently given her an edge over opponents. This season, Madi has secured victories in more than three matches and currently holds a top position on the ladder. In her recent match against Loomis, she demonstrated exceptional hustle and focus, prevailing in a challenging and hard-fought game. It will be exciting to witness her continued growth and success throughout the season.
Simon Wright ’28- Boys Varsity Swimming
Simon has become a distance specialist for the boys varsity swim team this year and is dropping time like crazy right now. His rapid improvements are a testament to his strong work ethic in and out of the pool. Additionally, he is a reliable teammate and brings great enthusiasm to the deck for both practices and meets. Simon’s coaches and teammates appreciate all that he brings to the table and look forward to his continued growth this season.
Sasha Gerhard ’25- Girls Varsity Swimming
Sasha has had an incredible start to the season which culminated in one of the races of the meet at Kent this past week when she picked up a big 3rd place to help the girls win a close meet. Her positive and competitive attitude provides a positive example for the rest of the team. Her coaches and teammates look forward to stronger contributions from Sasha this season.
