Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Kamal Sergeev ’27- Boys Varsity Cross Country

Kamal has been a consistent performer for the boys varsity cross country team all season.  He solidified his spot in the top seven early in the season and continued to improve throughout the season.  He finished the season with a strong performance this past weekend at the NEPSTA championship meet.  Only a 10th grader, the coaches are really excited about what Kamal can achieve in the next two years.

Will Keegan ’25-Boys JV Cross Country

Will has been a great addition to the boys cross country program this season. He has performed consistently throughout the season and had an outstanding performance this past weekend at the NEPSTA championship meet where he came in first out of all Williston runners who competed in the JV championship race.  The coaches are excited to get Will back for one more season, and think he still has a lot of potential that he hasn’t tapped into yet.

Brooks Connors ’26– Varsity Football

Brooks has had a great season for varsity football. His strong contributions continued Saturday as he led the way for the Wildcats rushing for 57 yards on just 8 carries. In addition to leading the team on the ground, he was also excellent in his pass protection and blocking as a Tight End. On the year Brooks is leading the team with 6.8 yards per carry and 9 touchdowns. The Wildcats will rely on him as they head into their bowl game, on Sawyer field, this Saturday.

Lucien Yin ’27- JV Football

Lucien had a strong game on both sides of the ball against Suffield.  The sophomore defensive end contributed with a strip-sack and 2 TFL on defense.  Offensively, as one of three fullbacks who rotated throughout the game, Lucien blocked well and ran the ball effectively.  Most notably Lucien broke several tackles and bounced off a teammate as he turned a straightforward dive into a wild 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Jack Mettey ’25- Boys Varsity Soccer

Senior center back Jack Mettey has been a model student-athlete throughout his career with the Boys Varsity Soccer program.  Over the past five years, Jack has worked his way through the JVA program before moving up to the Varsity squad during his sophomore year.  Jack has played many roles on the Varsity team.  While he began as a supporting player in the midfield, he worked his way up to earn more playing time in his Junior year.  This season, he has been a critical part of the defense for the Wildcats as they qualified for the Class B playoffs for the 6th straight year.  Jack and his teammates are ready to give their best effort in Wednesday’s playoff game at KUA. Congratulations, Jack!

Henry Sanders ’26- Boys JVA Soccer

Henry played in goal for the first time in the final game and spearheaded the teams best performance of the season, securing the 3-0 shutout against a powerful NMH squad. NMH had previously only lost once this season and have had our number for a few years now. In addition to his performance in net, he also assisted a goal in victory against KO earlier in the week. Henry has been arguably the most selfless player all year, and certainly the most flexible and willing, having played in no less than five different positions over the course of the season. He is a model player in terms of coachability and attitude, a joy to work with, and a selfless teammate.

Riley Platt ’27 – Girls Varsity Soccer

Riley’s hard work, smart plays, and gritty defense were key factors in the girls varsity soccer team’s success this season. In the Cat’s away game vs Choate, Riley displayed exceptional composure and discipline, making simple but effective passes that kept the ball moving and maintained possession. On the defensive side, she was relentless, shutting down the opposition’s attackers with physical play and timely interceptions. It was her commitment to doing the little things right—combined with her tough, no-quit mentality—that made a big impact on the outcome. Riley’s consistent effort and positive attitude stood out all season, and the coaches can’t wait to see it continue into next year.
