Maddy Cardaci ‘20 – Girls Varsity Hockey

Maddy had a great start to the season for the Wildcats this week. She played strong in the jamboree on Wednesday and exceptional in the team’s first game vs. St. Pauls on the road.  She was composed, played tough and scored the game winning goal with 1.2 seconds to go in overtime. She is a versatile player who played forward for the Wildcats last year and has moved back to be one of the anchors of the defense, exemplifying her team first mentality.  In the first week back, Maddy has demonstrated that she has a serious work ethic and is an extremely positive and vocal teammate. The team will continue to look towards Maddy for her leadership and strong play this season.

Tyler Thomas ’19- Varsity Boys Basketball

Tyler has played an important role in the boys varsity basketball team’s early success this season. On Saturday he led the team with a strong overall performance, helping the team earn a convincing 76-51 win over Nobles. Offensively, Tyler’s 20 points included four threes and two dunks. More importantly, his overall play on both ends of the court gave his teammates confidence to play at their highest level. Defensively, he had a number of steals that led to transition points.  Tyler has quickly established himself as one of the team’s leader.  He is a terrific teammate who’s love of the game has proven to be infectious amongst his teammates.

Sally Alrutz ‘19- Girls Varsity Swimming

Sally had a historic start to the season for the girls varsity swim team on Saturday. In her first meet of the season she had 2 individual wins and 2 relay wins against NMH.  Her times in the 100 Freestyle and 100 backstroke rank as the third fastest swims in those events in program history! Sally comes to practice each day ready to improve herself and her positive attitude and work ethic provide an excellent example for the younger girls on the squad. Sally will continue to play an important role in the Wildcats success this season.

Hugo Bundy ’23- Varsity Wrestling

Hugo has been the most enthusiastic wrestler on the team all season.  He works extremely hard every day in practice, and he always has a huge smile on his face.  His positive attitude and love for the sport is infectious. He recruited a friend to join the team, he earned a spot in the varsity lineup and wrestled up a weight class this past weekend to help the team when they needed him the most. His great sportsmanship and team-first attitude are always on display and it provides a fantastic example to the rest of the guys on the squad. Hugo will be a valuable contributor to the success of the Wildcats this season.

Abbie Coscia ’19- Girls Varsity Basketball

Abbie was a big part of the girls varsity basketball team’s home opening victory on Saturday against a tough opponent from Kingswood-Oxford. An overall effective player, the Wildcats relied on Abbie to lock down KO’s best player. She handled the challenge exceptionally well keeping KO’s number one scorer to only 5 points while Abbie was in the game. She also managed to rack up 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 11 points. Her contributions and tireless play allowed the Wildcats to earn the victory 73-48. Abbie leads by example day in and day out and the team will continue to lean on her as the season progresses.

Orion Minton ‘23- Coed Thirds Squash

Orion has kicked off his first season in Thirds Squash with a positive attitude, exemplary growth mindset, and a cooperative spirit to play with and learn from his teammates. Since Orion first stepped on the court last week, he has improved his serve and forehand return by listening attentively to instruction and then putting it into practice when volleying with others. Orion’s serve will be one of his defining and strategic moves as the Thirds team faces their first match in early January.
