Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Lachlan Maddock ’27 – JV Baseball

Lachlan has been an active and engaged leader for the JV squad this season.  He’s vocal in practice and sets a great example for younger teammates with both his words and his actions.  He’s also been a key performer as a consistent pitcher for the team this season.  He picked up the win in relief against Cushing last Saturday, going 5 innings without giving up a run. and driving in two runs with a single up the middle.

Tracie Ngo ’27  – Girls JV Golf

Tracie was once again consistent in her match against Wilbraham & Monson Academy on Wednesday, stepping up to the challenge with great sportsmanship.

Connor Briggs ’29 – Boys JV Lacrosse

This season Connor continues to embrace his role as a team leader. Whether it’s working on his game before practice, leading stretching, or running the tunes on gameday, Connor is always reliable. In games, he has increased his scoring with his relentless attacking from behind the cage. In practice, he is consistent and demonstrates to the younger players the work level expected every day. We look forward to Connor’s continued development as a leader and a player.

Yasmine McKenzie ’26 – Girls Varsity Lacrosse

In just her third year of playing lacrosse, Yasmine has developed into a standout defensive player. Stepping into a starting role this season, she has quickly become a critical defender that the team depends on, and she is tasked on a game-by-game basis with guarding some of the top players in New England. Yasmine’s competitiveness, athleticism, calm under fire, and ability to learn quickly has allowed her to shutdown opponents with many more years of lacrosse experience, and she has grown into a player who consistently wins contested groundballs and is critical to the team’s clearing game. Yasmine played fantastically in the games last week, covering top players from NMH and Choate and helping the team to a 1-1 record. Yasmine is the epitome of a consistent and team-first player.

Lydia Buttrick ’28 – Varsity Softball

Since the start of the season, she has shown remarkable growth, stepping confidently into a new position that was once outside her comfort zone. With each game, her understanding, adaptability, and composure have continued to improve, turning a challenge into an opportunity to elevate her game. Her standout moment came with a walk-off home run against NMH, a powerful example of her ability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.

Beyond the highlights, it’s her work ethic and team-first mindset that truly sets her apart. She consistently puts in the effort to refine her skills while encouraging and uplifting those around her. That dedication has not only strengthened her individual performance but has also had a clear impact on the team’s overall energy and success.

Mel McCullough ’26 – Girls Varsity Water Polo

Mel McCullough has been the girls water polo team superhero this spring! As captain of the team this young group of players has relied on Mel’s presence as a role model both in practice and in games. Her experience as a player has been instrumental in their incredible improvement over the spring, at the same time making sure her teammates find joy and support in everything they do together. This past weekend against a tournament bound Deerfield team, Mel’s amazing skills were on full display as her 27 saves keep the Williston girls in the game to the very end.
