18 Seniors Celebrated at Signing to Play College Sports

;

On February 5, Williston celebrated 15 seniors who have committed to college athletic programs this winter, as well as three who signed to play college sports in the fall. In remarks to members of the Williston community, who gathered in the Sabina Cain Athletic Center, as well as to family and friends watching on a livestream feed (recorded here) Director of Athletics Mark Conroy noted that 93 percent of high school athletes’ careers are over after their final high school game, and thus, how rare it is for young people to continue practicing their sport in college. He summed up how those students being honored today arrived at this moment: “For many of these athletes, playing in college has been a dream, a goal, for many years, that’s required a ton of passion and hard work, but also support from teammates, coaches, and families. This is our opportunity as a community to recognise that achievement.”
