Athletes of the Week

Introducing our Athletes of the Week program! Each week, Williston coaches nominate one student-athlete from their team who stood out by demonstrating our core values of purpose, passion, and integrity. These athletes show exceptional dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, embodying what it means to be a Williston Wildcat. Read below for more information on each of the Athletes of the Week.

Casey Muscato ’26 – Boys Varsity Cross Country

Casey ran a great race on Saturday and recorded a personal best time while placing 6th overall in the meet against NMH, Suffield, and Worcester Academy. Casey has been working hard in practice, and his effort is paying off with some fantastic results. He has also been providing great leadership as a captain and is helping all the runners develop a strong sense of camaraderie. The coaches are excited to see what Casey will achieve as he continues to get faster as the season progresses.

Sangwon Choi ’27 – Boys JV Cross Country

Sangwon has been a great addition to the boys’ cross country program and brings a good attitude to every practice and meet. He has made significant improvement since the start of the season and ran his first 5k race last weekend against NMH, Suffield, and Worcester. The coaches appreciate Sangwon’s good work ethic and the support he provides his teammates.

Caroline Doherty ’26 – Varsity Field Hockey

Having Caroline join the field hockey team has been such a delight. Since the moment she arrived on campus, she has jumped in with both feet. Caroline leads by example in her hard work and willingness to do whatever is asked. Just this week, Caroline played attack, midfield, and defense. No matter the position, Caroline always gives it her all and tries to learn as much as she can to be the best. In the game against KO, Caroline had numerous takeaways and was consistently in position to support her teammates. This effort led to an offensive explosion for our team. We have been so impressed by Caroline and her effort in these first three weeks, and cannot wait to see all that she accomplishes this season!

Ayo Adeniyi ’26 – Varsity Football

Ayo Adeniyi had a monster game for the Wildcats Saturday night in their 27-0 win over Andover. It was the first shutout for the Wildcats since 2017, and Ayo was a huge reason for it. He finished the game with six tackles, three and a half of which were tackles for loss. He also had one and a half Sacks, one Forced Fumble and one Fumble Recovery.

Nicolas Garcia San Jose ’26 – Boys Varsity Soccer

Co-captain Nico Garcia has found his form this week, leading the Wildcats to two consecutive wins over Cushing Academy and Worcester Academy. The Madrid native’s free-flowing play has terrorized opposing defenses since he was moved into the center forward role. He scored a wonderful strike against the Penguins to help his teammates secure a comfortable 4-1 win on Wednesday, and he scored the lone goal against Worcester in Sunday’s college showcase game.  Nico’s fitness and competitive spirit have been key components of the Wildcats’ success over the first month of the season.

Alex Landon ’26 – Boys JV A Soccer

Alex helped secure two wins against Eaglebrook this past week with excellent positional play and two lovely strikes of the ball, arguably his best goals in his four-year career on the team. He is one of our captains again this year, helping shepherd a talented group, with hopes to secure our most wins in recent history. The team is off to a good start with an undefeated record in two games and three scrimmages. Alex continues to earn the respect of his teammates and does an excellent job helping the coaches raise the bar for the team, while also making sure that the team finds the right balance of fun and competition.

Bobby Colenback ’27 – Boys JV B Soccer

Bobby is skilled and versatile, and in his most recent game against Cushing, he displayed this, playing both as a goalie and as a forward. His dedication and talent are illustrated during practice and games, as he plays with intensity, focus, and determination. Bobby has the potential to continue making a significant impact for us, and we are excited to have him back this season.

Quinn Desmarais ’31 – Boys Junior Soccer

Quinn has been a very dedicated and hardworking player throughout the season so far. His consistent effort, positive attitude, and competitive spirit have made a significant impact on our team. In our opening game against WMA, Quinn set the tone from the very beginning. He played with intensity and determination, particularly in the first half, which energized the entire team. His relentless drive and focus helped establish early momentum, setting us up for a strong performance. Quinn also scored our first goal of the season, which helped lead our team to a 6–1 victory.

Carlotta Roberts ’29 – Girls Varsity Soccer

This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to our freshman goalkeeper, who has impressed us all with her confidence, positive attitude, and relentless work ethic every day. Playing in her first regular season game as a Wildcat on Saturday, she stepped up when it mattered most and made a clutch save at the end of the game to secure the win. Her composure and the trust she’s earned from her teammates make her a key part of our team’s success!

Taylor Johnson ’28 – Girls JV Soccer

Taylor Johnson has been an unstoppable force on the girls JV soccer team. As a goalie, Tay has made big saves on the field both in the Bement game (2-2) and the KO game (12-1). She is the rock to our defense making big plays by stepping up early to the ball and taking away any opportunity the other team has to win. Tay has made impressive improvements all around, but especially with her diving skills. Her attitude in practice is great and she’s only going to be better as the season continues. Tay is a huge reason for the girls JV soccer undefeated start.

Doris Guan ’29 – Girls JV Volleyball

Doris, a new 9th grader at Williston, has shown her skills on and off the volleyball court. Whether it be diving for balls or yelling support from the sidelines, Doris gives her all. Her continual drive led the JV volleyball team to a strong start during last week’s game against Berkshire School, and she saved many close calls. Although one of the younger players, her upbeat attitude is valued by the whole team. We are excited to see what the rest of the season holds for Doris.

Ellis von Schoeler-Ames ’26 – Girls Thirds Volleyball

Ellis has been a strong leader from the very start of the season. She is positive role model for her teammates and works hard to get better at volleyball skills every day. She finds humor in every day things to make practice enjoyable for all.
