How to Apply

Admission to the Middle School is a thoughtful process designed to ensure that our incoming students are the best fit for the program and get a chance to really understand what Williston is all about. The centerpiece of the admission process is a full-day visit to the school. Each prospective student has the chance to tour the campus, attend classes, and sit for a personal interview, and parents also meet with our Director of Middle School Admission. This full-day format allows students to relax, ask questions, and get a feel for our community.

If you have any questions about the Middle School Admission process, please contact the Admission Office at (413) 529-3241 or by email.

Step 1: Request Information

To learn more about the Williston Middle School, please fill out our inquiry form, and we will mail you a viewbook and enter you into our system. Once you do this, you will receive instructions on how to create a username and password to access our Admission Portal, which will allow you to track your progress along the way.

Step 2: Visit Campus and Interview

Please call (413) 529-3241 or email our admission team to schedule your visit. We limit the number of visits per day, so we encourage you to schedule your preferred date in advance. Students have the option of starting with a campus tour and interview and attending classes after lunch, or reversing the order.

Step 3: Take the SSAT

Submitting standardized test results is a required step in Williston’s application process. Students are required to take the middle level of the SSAT, which may be taken on campus (or elsewhere) in November, December, January, or February.

Step 4: Come to Our Fall Open House

An optional step in the Admission process (but well worth doing!) is to come to our Middle School Open House, which is on Monday, November 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Whitaker-Bement Center. Bring your family and join a conversation with current faculty, students, and parents about the Williston Middle School community and the exceptional opportunities and educational experiences Williston offers. To register or for questions, please call or email the Admission Office at (413) 529-3241, or click the registration button below.

Step 5: Submit Your Application

Our application deadline is January 15. Download our application here, or fill out an application via Gateway or SSAT. Candidates for Financial Aid must complete financial aid forms by February 1 (to read more about Williston’s Financial Aid process, click here). All applicants to Williston are required to complete the following requirements as part of their application:

  • Application (download PDF)
  • Student essays
  • $50 application fee
  • SSAT test results
  • English teacher recommendation
  • Math teacher recommendation
  • Personal recommendation
  • Current school report
  • Parent statement or comments
  • On-campus Interview and Visit
  • Financial Aid Application (if applicable)

Step 6: Revisit for Admitted Student Night

Decision letters are mailed from the Admission Office on March 10, and accepted students (and their families) are invited to an Admitted Student Night a few weeks later. Held in Whitaker-Bement, this event features presentations from faculty, current students, and parents. It’s a great chance to ask any last questions and mingle with other accepted students and families.

Step 7: Enroll!

Williston’s enrollment deadline is April 10th. Decisions are made on a rolling admission basis for any student who finishes the application process after March 10. We encourage applicants who plan to apply after March 10 to call us directly at (413) 529-3241 regarding the availability of spaces for the coming academic year.
