Cajun Lesson Brings Spicy Sounds to French Class

Students in Adeleen Brown’s French 5 Honors class welcomed guest speaker, Michael Miceli earlier this month. The Louisiana-born musician gave the class a lesson in Cajun music. The class is learning about the francophone (French-speaking) world, which includes the U.S. state of Louisiana. Miceli is intrigued by Cajun music and plays the accordion. He showed the class videos of the various types of Cajun music and how the French language is maintained through the music in Louisiana. Students got to try the accordion and the ‘ti fer’ (Louisiana dialect for the triangle).
