Parents' Fund: Parents Make the Difference

Participating in the Parents' Fund—no matter the size of the gift—is the most important thing that a parent can do in support of the Williston Northampton School. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped us reach 70% participation for the 2015-2016 Parents' Fund!

Each year, the Parents' Fund, which is part of the Annual Fund, provides vital support to the school's operating budget. Gifts address Williston's most pressing needs and the institution's highest priorities. This year, the Parents' Fund has a goal of $490,000 with 75% parent participation; this will represent approximately one-third of the total Annual Fund.

Please contact Cherrie Collins, associate director of parent giving at (413) 529-3148 for more information.

What is the Parents' Fund?

The Parents' Fund is a component of Williston's Annual Fund to which parents, alumni and friends make unrestricted gifts that flow directly into the school's operating budget each year.

Why is the Parents' Fund necessary?

While tuition at Williston is substantial, it covers only 77% of the actual cost of educating each student. The Parents' Fund helps to make up the difference.

Why should you support the Parents' Fund?

Parents' Fund gifts go to work immediately to fund the daily priorities of the school. Every dollar benefits each student every day. Your support also signals to fellow parents, alumni and faculty that Williston is a philanthropic priority for you. It is a meaningful way to become involved in an organization in which you believe.

How will Williston spend the money raised by the Parents' Fund?

Every dollar raised goes directly to the current operating budget and enhances the educational and extra-curricular opportunities available to our students. The Parents' Fund supports faculty enrichment opportunities, the theater and arts program, athletic equipment, the school's facilities, library resources and more.

How much do families give?

Participation is what matters most, and every gift makes a difference. Last year, 70% of parents made a gift to Williston's Parents' Fund ranging from $5 to $50,000. We hope that you will support the Parents' Fund at a level that is comfortable for your family.

What is the 1841 Society?

The 1841 Society recognizes donors who contribute $1,841 or more to the Parents' Fund each year. The 1841 Society ensures that today's students experience the fullest range of intellectual, athletic, and artistic opportunities. Gifts to the 1841 Society are a critical component of the Parents' Fund.
