The school offers many opportunities to learn the art of filmmaking, including two trimester-long courses during the year and extracurriculars such as the annual film festival and the student-run film club.
Film Making I is an introductory course in the process of film making with Mini DV camcorders and basic editing software. Students learn fundemental technical skills such as: lighting, color balance, camera movements, camera angles, sound capture, hardware, and editing.
Film Making II expands on these basic concepts and takes them one step further by examining a variety of film and video sources, discussing their concepts and structures, and learning about scripts, storyboards, and pre-production. Students are required to participate in the annual Williston Film Festival. Mini DV cameras, computers/software, and all other equipment will be provided.
