Library Circulation and Services

Loan Periods and Renewals

Books and music CDs circulate for three weeks; films for one week. You may take out an unlimited amount of material unless others are also pursuing the same topic. Borrowers are encouraged to renew material if it is still needed as the due date approaches; this can be done in person or by e-mail to Mrs. Motyka.

Reference and Instruction
A professional librarian is always available to give individual help with reference questions, assignments, Internet research, and leisure reading suggestions. Librarians and teachers collaborate when classes come in for assignment-specific instruction on appropriate resources and search strategies.

Interlibrary Loan
Although our school's collection is selected to amply provide resources for class assignments, occasionally an interlibrary loan request is sent out. The library participates in the Western Massachusetts Regional Library System (WMRLS). Please see a librarian, who will assess your need, submit the form, and notify you by e-mail when the material arrives.

Machines, supplies, etc.
Computers and laptops are available for research, Web browsing, and e-mail. It is recommended that articles be e-mailed or downloaded, and it is also quite possible to take notes. Two printers, one in color, serve the computers. A small-volume, but multi-featured, copier/printer is near the entry.  Librarians are benevolent in dispensing calculators, color markers, scissors, tape, staples, glue, rulers, and compliments. Students must purchase their own paper for projects.

McGoun Room
The McGoun Room upstairs houses the Writing Center, and is open throughout the day and evening for help. The room is also available for tutoring and film viewing.
