The boys’ hockey team competes at the Division I level in the Prep West Conference of the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association. The team plays a challenging non-league schedule, which includes many of the top prep teams in the country. Part of this demanding schedule is Williston’s participation in such exclusive events as the Yale Showcase, The St. Sebastian’s Holiday Tourney, and the Nobles/St. Sebastian’s New Year’s Showcase. The quality of our competition leads to some of the best college hockey exposure available in the country.
The home of Wildcat Hockey is Lossone Arena, which has recently undergone a major renovation. The arena now has a new board system with seamless flexible glass and upgraded seating for spectators. These changes, along with the recently renovated locker rooms, help make the Williston facility a premier venue for prep school hockey.
The Wildcats are led by head coach Derek Cunha who enters his eighth year behind the bench. Cunha also works as an Associate Director of Admission and is dorm head of the Logan Hall Residence. In the past seven years, former Williston players have gone on to play collegiate hockey in the Hockey East, Atlantic Hockey Conference, NESCAC, ECAC East, MASCAC, Northeast 10, and ACHA Conferences. Cunha is ably assisted by Kyle Hanford '97 who teaches English and also coaches in the lacrosse program.
