Emmy award-winning filmmakers Patrick and Amina Moreau, Tuesday, September 25, at 6:30 pm.
In 2005, university psychology students Patrick and Amina Moreau decided they wanted to tell meaningful stories, not through academia, but through documentaries. That initial desire shaped their development as filmmakers and was the guiding principle in the evolution of their company, stillmotion. Today, storytelling continues to guide their decisions. Every lens, color, or lighting choice is informed by the mood and emotional scene that they want to convey.
Patrick and Amina introduce the team as “a band of filmmakers and photographers who, as a rule, always let our curiosity get the better of us. We believe that the process of discovery is as important as what goes on the screen. We tell stories—big, small, and anywhere in between.” And, they say, “we’ve racked up plenty of miles and hard drive space doing work for Showtime, Callaway, CBS, NFL, and Canon.”
Visit www.stillmotion.ca to view clips from
A Game of Honor, nominated for eight Emmy awards, including Outstanding Sports Documentary and Outstanding Camera Work;
Old Skool, a portrait of the determined young people who put their hearts into a youth-run supper club in San Francisco;
The Super Bowl, the final episode of the Emmy-nominated TV and web series,
The Season; and a short film about what happens when an independent young woman enters a small town as a squatter.
Patrick and Amina's visit, which is the first in this year’s Photographers’ Lecture Series, is made possible by the Canon Explorers of Light program.
