Activities
+ Traditions

Traditions? Yeah, we've got a few! Here are eight that every Wildcat loves.

Painting the Lion

Located in the middle of our main quad, the lion often sports a new coat of paint on the night before a big game, campus event, holiday, or special day (like Willy Gras, our spring campus field day).

Singing the Sammy Song

Belted out at sporting events, rallies, alumni gatherings, or any other time Wildcats are moved to sing. “Long may we cherish Williston!”

Willympics

Boarders and day students go for gold in a series of games ranging from rowing “canoes” across the Babcock Pool to lip syncing.

Holiday Banquet

At the end of this annual party, you’ll retire to the Head of School’s house for dessert and songs around the piano. Everyone heads home for the break full of holiday spirit.

Activities on the Pond

In winter, Williston Pond becomes an outdoor skating rink for pond hockey. In spring, it’s the scene for Willy Gras canoe races. Year round, it’s a living laboratory for bio students.

Willy Gras

Our annual celebration of spring pulls out all the stops with zany contests, fun foods, music, giant water slides, the debut of the yearbook, and a dunk tank.

Arts Walk

At the end of each trimester, the Reed Campus Center comes alive for Arts Walk, a night when the walls are lined with art, the galleries are filled with shows, and the air is filled with song.

Ringing the Victory Bell

For whom does the bell toll? Victorious Wildcats, of course. After every athletic triumph, the winning team gathers round and strikes the bell to share the news. Expect to hear it often!

Weekend Activities

There’s so much going on on campus on the weekends (the play, the game, the bumper boats, the pool party) that you may not want to take the van to the movies or the mall or the orchard or the art museum—but you could if you wanted to.

Student Leadership

We’ve got a bunch of ways to explore leadership at Williston: run for student council office, or try dorm proctor, club president, team captain or manager, international student mentor, peer educator, or admission intern.

Community Service

Organize a blood drive, serve meals at a local Ronald McDonald House, motivate others to donate to our record-breaking food drive. Whatever your passion, you can make a difference here.

Student Publications

This is your chance to write, edit, or take photos for the country’s oldest continually published newspaper, The Willistonian. Or try your hand at art and literature and submit to Janus.
